Google Drive Taking a Stand Against Porn

Porn is unhealthy and damaging to those who come into contact with it, which is why we believe in putting an end to sexual exploitation and an emphasis on real, intimate relationships.

Recently, Google Drive has been accused of causing havoc for porn performers by flagging their inappropriate content with error messages for violating Google’s terms of service. Some people are noticing their videos and images disappear without warning or explanation. These ‘porn performers’ who make their own product (typically in the form of videos) and market to their own audience, are claiming that Google should not be allowed to dictate what you and another consenting adult send to each other through email. According to Google Drive’s policy page, it states, “Do not publish sexually explicit or pornographic images or videos.... Additionally, we do not allow content that drives traffic to commercial pornography.”

Frankly, we’re happy with Google’s actions. It does leave us wondering, however, how far with Google go? With many teens sexting nowadays and photos getting leaked and placed on Google Drive, will these eventually get flagged and removed as well?
