We all encounter a ‘provoker’ sometime in our life whose sole purpose is to create drama by harassing others. Although we can’t always control the situations, we can control how we react. If you find yourself being harassed by one of these troll-like people, here are some tips that will help you get through this annoying situation.
One thing we noticed is no matter how nice, kind or positive you are, there are always going to be people who try to tear you down. Frankly, they are typically unhappy human beings who subconsciously believe that others should be miserable too. Getting people's blood to boil is what gives them their high and is often the only way they know to make themselves feel better.
So, the big question is, what do you do?
Be kind. Be calm, carry on. Take a deep breath, smile and say something like “Thanks for your input. Have a great day!” and move on. The key is to rise above them and don’t let their toxic stench succumb over you. Don’t feed into their nonsense and don't argue. You’ll only tire yourself and become angry, which is exactly what they want.
If you take a step back and observe, you will most likely notice that this person doesn’t have a personal vendetta against you, they’re doing that exact same routine to everyone around them. You are NOT the issue. They are.
These types of people love attention; they hate to be ignored. They absolutely despise it when they can’t distract you from having a good time. Keep in mind, some of these provokers and trolls don’t give up easily and their attacks might get more frequent or severe before they give up. Hang in there and stay strong. They will go away as soon as they realize that you’re not going to give them what they want.
And remember, the block button on social media is a beautiful thing.
