A Cyber Bullying Video That Every Student Needs To Watch

It is important that everyone watch the following upsetting video. Cyber bullying can lead to disastrous outcomes like suicide and it is up to all of us to be able to recognize it and do something about it.

Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death for 15 to 24-year olds. On average, 1 person commits suicide every 16.2 minutes.

After receiving continuous bullying and horrific texts from another classmate, Daniel committed suicide. One of the sad parts about this story is that at school that day he told his fellow classmates and even the bus driver but nobody took him seriously. His final call was to one of his good buddies but by the time word reached his parents, it was too late. Watch the video below.

When someone tells you they are going to kill themselves or cause themselves harm, do something. NEVER shrug it off as typical teenage melodrama. Any statement of “I want to die” or ”You won’t have to worry about me much longer” must be taken seriously. Listen and tell them how important they are and how they are not alone. Bad times won’t last forever and things will get better.

Make sure to inform their parents as soon as possible or reach out to other adults if you can’t get through to their parents. It is also very important to seek professional help and counseling.

Some parents worry that talking about suicidal thoughts to their child might make suicidal thoughts more real, and a suicide more likely to happen. But the truth is, if a child feels he has someone in the family that he can talk to, he feels better. He feels more understood and this is very important. The last thing that you want is for your child to feel alone.

Every person matters and everybody deserves love. It is so important to remind people of that. Every one of us has a purpose in this life. Many people may not know exactly what their purpose is (yet) but we are all on a journey. Every journey has its ups and downs and this pursuit of a purpose or a deeper meaning must not be overlooked.  We are all special and we all deserve to live long enough to discover that special meaning of why we were given this precious gift of life.

Please share this article to take a stand against cyber bullying. The more people we reach and the greater the awareness to teens of the possible consequences of bullying, the more people we hope to save.

Much Love,

Candice
